Child Safety Seats and Helmets
All of us rely on protective gear sold to protect us and our children. When that gear fails, experience and resources count.
Watts Law Firm is one of the leading firms in the nation when it comes to crash helmet and motorcycle helmet safety litigation. In James Hemphill v. Helmtech, Inc., our client suffered a traumatic brain injury in a low-impact motorcycle collision when his helmet shattered. We uncovered a long history of helmet failures by the manufacturer as well evidence of manufacturing defects which made the helmet's shell brittle and prone to fracture. In Christopher Symons v. Griffin Products, Inc., et al, our client suffered a severe brain injury when the shell of his motorcycle helmet inverted inward on impact. Again, we exposed numerous other similar incidents involving the helmet maker, along with a history of production defects. In Carl Tindell v. RiderĂs, Inc. d/b/a RiderĂs Harley-Davidson, Inc., our client suffered a fatal head injury while wearing a half-shell helmet that violated minimum standards in Alabama and provided virtually no protection to the user. All of these cases were settled on confidential, but very favorable terms.
We have also handled cases involving defective child car seats, including one involving an EvenFlo car seat that failed to restrain a two year old in a rollover -- leading to the infant's being ejected and rendered comatose.
