David L. Jones was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1970. David graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance in May of 1994 where he was a member of the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi honor society for his outstanding academic achievements. He earned his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. While a law student at the University of Michigan, David completed an externship at the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego, California, where he studied and wrote extensively on the issues of white collar crime and the enforcement of environmental policies. Mr. Jones was also a briefing clerk for the Honorable Kathy Stone, 55th Judicial District, Harris County, Texas. After law school, David began his career at Gardere & Wynne, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas where he represented the interests of plaintiffs and defendants in commercial contexts. Eventually, David made his way to Corpus Christi, where he spent the majority of his career working at the firms of Barger, Hermansen, McKibben & Villarreal, L.L.P. and Hartline, Dacus, Barger, Dryer & Kern L.L.P. He joined Watts Law Firm in 2006 where his practice focuses primarily on products liability, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, toxic torts, contracts and commercial litigation.
David is licensed to practice in the state courts of Texas, the United States District Courts of the Southern, Western, Eastern and Northern Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Trial lawyers, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Bar Association, the Corpus Christi bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Corpus Young lawyers Association, serving as the Secretary of the Board of Directors in 2000-2001. David also serves his community doing a wide variety of pro bono legal activities for the under privileged and as an active member of his local church.
