David Bright earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in 1983 with studies in government, philosophy and the Interdisciplinary Honors Program. He graduated from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1986, where he served as Associate Editor of the St. Mary's Law Review, was a member of the State Moot Court Team and won the Norvell Moot Court Competition, both as Outstanding Oral Advocate and recipient of the Best Brief award. In 1986, David was inducted into the national advocacy honorary group of Order of Barristers. Before becoming Of Counsel to Watts & Heard, L.L.P., he was a partner in the civil litigation law firm of Sorrell, Anderson, Lehrman, Bright & Maixner and the personal injury law firm of Wyatt, Wyatt, Bright & Cowley, handling a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, commercial trucking, professional liability, insurance bad faith, libel and slander, employment, civil rights, commercial and construction-related litigation and appeals.

In 1999, David became Of Counsel to the predecessor firm of Watts Law Firm, L.L.P., continuing his representation of plaintiffs in personal injury, product liability, commercial trucking, class action and complex civil litigation. He continues to serve as Of Counsel for the firm. David is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits, the United States Court of International Trade and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a licensed, certified mediator by the American Arbitration Association.

David is an "AV" rated lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas and the Corpus Christi Bar Association and is a charter member of the Reynaldo G. Garza American Inns of Court. He has served as President of the Corpus Christi Bar Association and Chairman of the State Bar of Texas District 11-A Grievance Committee. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Corpus Christi Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education Committee. David is a frequent author and lecturer for the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Corpus Christi Bar Association and serves as Course Director for the annual Advanced Civil Trial Law Seminar.
