Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Gregory L. Gowan earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from Texas A&M University at College Station in 1993. He earned his law degree in 1995 from Texas Tech School of Law. While at Texas Tech, Gregory served as Associate Editor of the <i>Texas Tech Law Review</i> and vice-chair of the Board of Barristers. He was the 1995 Champion of both the Advanced Mock Trial and Advanced Moot Court Competitions, including awards for Best Oralist and Best Brief. In addition, he received the "TOP GUN" award for accumulating the most points in mock trial and moot court competitions, having reached the finals in four of the six competitions. After graduating from law school, Gregory joined the firm of Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy in Corpus Christi, Texas, practicing defense of commercial litigation and maritime cases. In 1996, he started his own practice which developed into Williams, Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C. As a founding partner of the firm, he handled a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, commercial and maritime cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He was part of the trial team that won a landmark verdict against Humana, Inc.

Gregory joined Watts Law Firm, L.L.P. in 2002, focusing his representation of plaintiffs in a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, complex commercial litigation, construction-related litigation and tractor-trailer collision litigation. In April 2003, he joined his partner Mikal Watts in obtaining the largest verdict in the history of Nueces County when the jury returned a $143,470,408 verdict in <i>Knight v. DePena*</i>. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Gregory has written and continues to write articles for presentation at continuing legal education seminars. He is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas and Oklahoma, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States. Gregory is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), the Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA), the Corpus Christi Young Lawyers Association, the Corpus Christi Bar Association and the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas.
