Michael M. Guerra was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, where he currently resides with his wife and three children. Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. While at Texas A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He also worked for the Texas A&M University System as a legislative liaison in Austin during the legislative session. In 1993, Michael received his law degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and was an American Jurisprudence Award recipient in Constitutional law.

Michael joined the predecessor firm of Watts Law Firm, L.L.P., in 2001 as partner and was asked by Mikal Watts to establish and head the Edinburg office. He is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. He was co-counsel for the plaintiffs in an oilfield-related case, styled Coria et al., v. Key Energy et al., that was named one of Texas Lawyer's"Top Verdicts and Settlements of 2000." Michael was also co-counsel for hundreds of plaintiffs in the mass environmental contamination case styled Linn-Faysville Aquifer Preservation Association, et al. v. Republic Waste Industries Inc., et al. He was in the national spotlight as a key member of the plaintiffs' trial team in the first Firestone tire/Ford Explorer case to reach a jury. Furthermore, due in part to his efforts, an automotive manufacturer initiated a recall of a dangerous fuel system, potentially saving future vehicle occupants from injury and/or death from post-collision fuel-fed fires. Michael has been the attorney in charge of litigating dozens of cases involving defective products and negligence, resulting in substantial recoveries for the firm's clients.

Michael is licensed to practice in the state courts of Texas and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He is a member of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), the TTLA Advocates Board of Directors, the South Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Hidalgo County Bar Association. Michael is fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
